CHAPTER 4.
Several hours passed. The emergency room doors finally opened. A doctor stepped out, and Panji immediately approached him.
“Doctor, how is my wife?”
The doctor removed his mask. “Are you her husband?”
“Yes, Doctor.”
The doctor took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, sir.”
Panji’s face tightened. “Sorry for what?”
“We did everything we could.”
Panji began to grow anxious. “How’s my baby, Doctor?”
The doctor looked at him. “Your wife’s pregnancy could not be saved.”
Panji fell silent. “What does that mean...?”
“Your wife had a miscarriage.”
Mrs. Tika covered her mouth. Mita fell silent. Mr. Andi let out a long sigh. Panji, meanwhile, stood there without a trace of emotion.
“Dinda had a miscarriage?”
“Yes.”
“How is she now?”
“The patient still needs care. She’s quite weak from losing a lot of blood.”
“Can we see her?”
“Not yet. Let her rest.”
Panji nodded slowly. After that, Panji’s family decided to go home.
No one asked whether Dinda needed them or not.
They only asked a nurse to check on Dinda. Panji even chose to leave with Jesika. And that night, Dinda was left all alone.
Midnight came. The hospital room was quiet. Dinda slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry, and her head felt heavy.
“Ah...” Dinda tried to move, but the pain made her wince.
“My baby...” Her hand instinctively touched her stomach. Then she remembered what had happened at the restaurant, and Dinda immediately began to cry.
“My baby...”
Suddenly, a voice came from the corner of the room.
“Your baby is gone.”
Dinda was startled. Her eyes flew wide open.
“Who are you?”
Someone stood near the door. She was a beautiful woman with long, flowing hair. Her face looked remarkably similar to Dinda’s. Dinda stared at her in confusion.
“Who are you?”
The woman walked closer. “I’m the person who came to avenge all the pain you’ve suffered.”
Dinda frowned. “Who are you?”
The woman stopped beside the bed. “You really don’t recognize me?”
Dinda kept staring at the woman’s face. There was something familiar about her. The woman gave her a faint smile.
“Dinda.”
Dinda’s heart pounded. The woman pulled up a chair and sat down.
“You...” The woman reached out her hand.
“Diandra. Your little sister...”
Dinda immediately covered her mouth. Tears streamed down her face.
“Hi, Dinda. How are you?”
“As you can see.”
“You know, I’ve been looking for you everywhere,” Diandra said.
“I’m sorry...”
Dinda tried to sit up, but Diandra quickly stopped her.
“Don’t move yet. You’re still weak.”
“I thought I’d never see you again, Diandra.”
“I thought the same.”
Diandra clasped Dinda’s hand. When she saw her twin sister’s pale face, her expression changed.
“Who did this to you?”
Dinda fell silent. “Dinda.”
Diandra stared at her sharply. “Who?” Dinda began to cry.
“Panji.”
“Your husband?” Dinda nodded.
“He pushed me.”
Diandra’s eyes immediately reddened. “He pushed you while you were pregnant?”
Dinda began crying again. “He cheated on me.”
“With whom?”
“His childhood friend.”
“And does his entire family know?”
“Yes, they know.” Diandra clenched her fists. “They even planned Panji’s engagement to that woman.”
“You bastards!” Diandra cursed.
“I went there secretly to find out the truth. But I never expected this to be what I found.”
Dinda finally told her everything about the two years she had spent with Panji and his family. About her in-laws’ insults. About the way her sister-in-law treated her. And about how Panji never gave her enough money and secretly cheated on her. Until finally, Dinda lost her baby.
Diandra listened without interrupting. But the longer she listened, the colder her face became. When Dinda finished telling her story, Diandra stood.
“So all this time, they treated you like a servant?”
Dinda lowered her head. “Yes.”
“Your husband cheated on you, and his family knew. And they still let you suffer?” Dinda nodded through her tears.
Diandra took a deep breath. “All right.” Dinda looked at her sister.
“All right what, Diandra?” Diandra smiled—a smile that made Dinda’s heart pound.
“In that case, it’s their turn to suffer.”
“Diandra. What are you going to do?”
“I’m going to move into that house and pretend to be you, Sis.”
Dinda’s eyes widened. “Don’t. They’re all evil! I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
“Don’t worry, Sis. I’m not as obedient as you are. We may be twins, but our personalities are different. And I hate being bullied more than anything. For now, I’ll take your place.” Diandra laughed softly.
“But—”
“No buts. Just focus on recovering first. When the time comes, we’ll get our revenge together. They were cruel to you, so we have to teach them a lesson.”
“You’re right,” Dinda replied.
“They think you’re all alone.” Diandra gently stroked Dinda’s head. “They don’t know you have me.”
“I don’t want you to get hurt too, Diandra.”
“Don’t worry. I’m not you, Sis.” Her eyes turned sharp. “I won’t cry when they insult me. And I won’t stay silent when they hurt or bully me. I won’t forgive them for destroying your life.”
Dinda fell silent. Diandra held her hand.
“Rest at my apartment for now. I’ve already arranged for a nurse to take care of you until you’ve fully recovered. Leave this place tonight. I’ll take your place.”
“You have to be careful, Diandra.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll handle everything else.”
Dinda gazed at her twin sister with tear-filled eyes.
“All right. But remember, don’t do anything that could put you in danger.”
Diandra smiled. “Got it, Sis.”
That night, without Panji or his family knowing, someone had returned. And this time, Dinda was no longer alone. Because her other half had arrived to avenge everything.
