Thunder roared across the turbulent night sky. At that moment, a purple-robed person entered a large villa in Puncak, Bogor, West Java. The purple-robed figure wore a hood attached to the back of the purple robe, along with an angel mask made of wood. As a result, no one knew the person's true identity. They seemed like a truly mysterious figure.
The angel mask was deathly pale—paler than the depiction of any female demon in any Indonesian horror movie ever produced by local filmmakers.
The purple-robed figure continued walking into the large villa, which was enclosed by high walls and stood far apart from the surrounding villas. It was as if the villa had deliberately been built in isolation from all the others.
They continued deeper into the large villa, whether it belonged to them or not. One thing was certain: the place looked dull and neglected, as though no human being had lived there for a very long time.
And yet the villa still had electricity. It was not completely dark, though the dim lighting only added to its haunted atmosphere. Much like tonight, when the sky rumbled furiously, as if a great battle were taking place above.
A battle among the astral beings, who used lightning as both weapons and displays of their supernatural power to determine who would emerge victorious.
At last, rain poured from the sky, drenching the earth beneath the large villa.
But the purple-robed person paid no attention to the downpour. Whether the person concealed inside the purple robe was a woman or a man, their true identity remained hidden. Only their eyes, mouth, and two nostrils were visible through the wooden angel mask.
They were extremely difficult for anyone to recognize. No one could tell who they really were. The wooden mask seemed fused to their face, almost like a second face covering the original one. And of course, it possessed supernatural power.
After walking through the large villa for a long time, they finally stopped in front of a dimly lit room. The only illumination came from a yellow five-watt lightbulb. The room had no door, allowing anyone to enter or leave freely for whatever purpose they had.
After pausing for a moment, the purple-robed figure started walking again and entered the empty room. They stopped once more in front of a wooden table, then immediately slid it to their right.
Once the wooden table had been moved from its original position, a one-by-one-meter hatch with a handle became visible, attached to the floor. The purple-robed figure quickly pulled the handle, lifting the hatch and revealing an opening with concrete stairs descending into an underground room—a bunker.
Without the slightest hesitation, they entered the stairwell, their gaze growing increasingly hollow. Their eyes seemed to radiate not even the slightest spark of life, as though they were no longer a living, breathing human being like everyone else.
The purple-robed figure continued down the stairs, which stretched three meters from the underground floor to the room above.
When they arrived in the dimly lit bunker, they found it illuminated by long fluorescent lights. But the lights were nearing the end of their service lives, causing them to give off a weak glow. The long fluorescent tubes were mounted on the ceiling of the bunker, which measured four meters across from its right side to its left.
Murals covered the right and left walls of the bunker, depicting various kinds of golek puppets with modern faces and appearances. One painting showed a golek puppet dressed like a goddess in a blood-red gown, wearing a gold lotus-shaped crown. There were also Arjuna and Srikandi golek puppets dressed in the classic style, true to their traditional forms.
The purple-robed figure finally stopped in front of a demonic altar crowded with various kinds of golek puppets, identical to those painted on the walls of the bunker. The puppets were stuck into the altar's body and stood motionless, just like the golek puppets commonly performed by their puppeteers.
But the golek puppet shaped like a goddess, with a golden lotus crown and a blood-red gown, had three pairs of arms. They were arranged neatly beneath her normal pair of arms. She appeared alive, with glowing red eyes that radiated life through her wooden body, though it was not truly human life.
Suddenly, the goddess golek puppet moved and floated before the purple-robed person. A horrifying smile spread across her face, like the grin of a demon in a horror movie.
Not only did her eyes resemble those of a living human—her mouth could move like one too. This was proven when she opened it and spoke to the purple-robed person, who remained silent without uttering a single sound.
“Purple Robe… it’s time for us to perform the human sacrifice ritual,” she said, addressing the purple-robed person as Purple Robe.
“All right, Dewi Golek…” Purple Robe replied in a flat voice, speaking from the gut with a voice that was not their true one. According to Purple Robe, the terrifying golek puppet’s name was Dewi Golek.
From that moment on, the atmosphere in the place grew even more ominous.
