“Where are we?”
The question slipped from Nara’s lips when Dimas’s luxury vehicle arrived at a place completely unfamiliar to her. Several TV station logos were displayed on the cars in front of them, and there was also a large crowd that sparked her curiosity.
“Did you bring all the papers?” Dimas asked, throwing out an entirely different question.
Nara nodded, making her beautiful black hair fall across part of her face. When Dimas saw it, he reflexively fixed her hair, and in an instant, their eyes met again.
“Beautiful,” the man murmured unconsciously, right in front of Nara. One corner of his lips lifted, revealing the small dimple in his right cheek once more.
For a moment, Dimas appeared to admire Nara’s beauty. Her naturally curled eyelashes and rosy red lips completely drew away his focus. Dimas stared at Nara’s face for a long time. It was now covered with a light layer of makeup, and his heart began to tremble slightly.
“What is it, Evan?”
“Ah, nothing. I was just admiring how different you look. You can get out now and see what happened over there,” Dimas said, immediately moving away and leaning back against the driver’s seat.
Still confused, Nara finally got out of the car. She hesitated to walk toward the crowd until she saw an encouraging nod from the man who had saved her life.
“Evan and Bella! What do you have to say about your wedding ceremony being nearly ruined by a woman? Do either of you know her?” one of the news reporters asked, instantly bringing Nara to a stop.
“As I said yesterday, she’s nothing more than a country bumpkin pretending to be my wife,” Evan replied curtly as he kissed the back of his new wife’s hand with great affection.
The reporters’ uproar began to fill Nara’s ears. It made her heart ache and burn at the same time, because Evan looked increasingly happy beside his new wife. The man she had once loved with all her heart appeared to have no burdens in life whatsoever, the exact opposite of her current situation.
“So that woman really was only pretending? Then why did she do it? Why would she dare claim Evan as her husband? Didn’t she know that Bella had been dating Evan for a long time? Did that woman deliberately want to use Bella’s name as a new actress to gain fame and get herself covered by various media outlets?”
“Yes, that could be the case. I don’t know her exact reason, but what matters is that everything she claimed is untrue. My husband has never been married to anyone except me—”
“Liar!” Nara shouted, suddenly seizing everyone’s attention.
The woman finally stepped forward and stood right beside Bella, who still didn’t recognize her. Nara was too exhausted from being hurt over and over again. Now, she had decided to fight this injustice.
“Evan was married before!” Nara insisted, meeting Evan’s sharp stare without fear.
Nara’s manner was relaxed rather than heated, but her words carried such seriousness that the atmosphere instantly grew tense. Camera lenses began turning toward her, and all the reporters fell silent in unison, listening and waiting for every word that would leave her lips.
Meanwhile, panic immediately showed on Evan’s face. He was inwardly frantic, his eyes never leaving Nara’s every move. Both his hands were clenched tightly at his sides, but unfortunately, he couldn’t simply attack the woman he had once been forced to marry.
“My name is Nara! I’m Evan’s ex-wife! If you don’t believe me, I can show you more evidence!”
Nara immediately pulled several documents from her new bag. Her breathing grew slightly calmer as Evan’s piercing stare grew more threatening. She held up several pieces of marriage evidence, along with the divorce papers, for all the cameras in front of her.
“This man married me two months ago, then divorced me just like that after mortgaging my house to get a substantial loan from the bank!” Nara continued, leaving everyone around her stunned.
They all looked utterly shocked by her confession, and Bella was equally speechless. The evidence Nara presented looked incredibly strong, so everyone quickly believed everything she had said—words they had initially assumed were lies.
“Stop! End all your lies, Nara!” Evan said, trying to shut her down.
The man clearly didn’t want all his dirty secrets exposed so quickly. Unfortunately for him, that only made the sweet smile on Nara’s lips grow wider.
“I’m not lying! He’s the real fraud here!” Nara shouted again, ignoring Evan’s mounting fury.
She pointed an accusing index finger firmly at her ex-husband’s face, and a small sense of satisfaction spread through her heart as she finally managed to even the odds. Evan’s face turned bright red, and he was powerless to fight back—just as Nara had felt the day before.
“I think I’ve explained enough. I only came here to make that clear, so this man can realize his mistake and promptly return the property he stole from me,” Nara concluded, ending her confession.
The woman who no longer looked like a country bumpkin simply walked away after successfully turning the situation tense. Several news reporters left Bella and Evan, who were still visibly stunned, and ran after her instead.
“You’ve humiliated me, Evan!” Bella cried before quickly leaving her husband, whom she had married only yesterday.
Evan ran after his wife, but Bella disappeared from sight far too quickly. The man snorted in frustration, rubbed his face agitatedly, and spun around without knowing where to turn.
“Ah! Damn it! That country bumpkin really has ruined all my plans! Just you wait, Nara!” Evan snarled, his emotions completely out of control.
Every one of Evan’s movements was being watched by someone who was now smiling in satisfaction at his suffering. She was delighted that things had started so perfectly, then looked once more at a ring that was no longer on her ring finger.
“This is just the beginning, Evan! From this moment on, I won’t let you be happy at the expense of my suffering anymore! You’ll pay for destroying my life with something equal in return! So you can never again look down on me so easily!”
