"Are you satisfied now, Nara!"
Nara was startled when Bella suddenly appeared in front of her. She had thought the woman had already left, but apparently not. Bella had instead found her hiding place from the reporters and now stood before her, eyes blazing.
"What is this about? Why did you slap me?" Nara asked, clutching one cheek that felt hot.
"You have to ask, Nara? You think I would just stay quiet after you humiliated me in front of the reporters? Huh?!" Bella snapped, her gaze growing even sharper. She kept advancing until Nara was backed further into a corner.
"You're the strange one, Bella! You should be thanking me for exposing all your new husband's disgusting secrets right from the start! Instead, you attack me as if I'm the criminal here!"
Nara raised a hand to push the woman's shoulder, but Bella grabbed her hair first. Her movement was too fast and brutal, sending Nara's body staggering backward and sideways as unbearable pain shot through her head.
"You think I care about that, Nara? No! I don't care! The only thing I care about is my career! You ruined it! Besides, Evan is only like that with you! Not me! He loves me so much, and I'm sure he would never treat me that way!" Bella snarled as she attacked Nara again.
Nara tried with all her strength to break free of Bella's hold. After struggling for what felt like forever, she finally managed to shove the woman away. Nara quickly turned the tables, leaving Bella backed into the exact same corner where Nara had been moments earlier.
"Love has blinded you, Bella! Evan has lied to you! He married you with money from mortgaging the house I lived in! He's not as rich as you think!" Nara shouted, trying to make her see the truth.
But Bella merely shook her head with a smile whose meaning Nara couldn't decipher. Nara's brows drew together, and then she suddenly felt an incredibly powerful tug from behind that sent her crashing to the ground.
"You think Bella just found out about this, Nara?" someone said, making Nara's eyes fly wide open.
For a moment, Nara couldn't say a word. She looked back and forth between Bella and Evan. The newlywed couple's crooked smiles were loaded with meaning, and her hands clenched tightly as her breathing grew heavier.
"So the two of you have been working together all this time to destroy my life?" Nara whispered bitterly.
"More accurately, Nara, it wasn't about destroying your life. We were just using you," Bella replied in a coy voice, spreading her arms as if to embrace Evan.
Bella and Evan embraced right in front of Nara, who still couldn't get up from where she had fallen. The two of them acted as if they had no shame, not even hesitating to share a passionate kiss before Nara's dark eyes.
"Ah, Bella. You really are intoxicating, sweetheart!" Evan said with a smirk.
"Thank you, sweetheart. Compared to your ex-wife, which of us is more intoxicating, Evan?" Bella asked, casting Nara a mocking glance.
Nara clicked her tongue and looked away. She was so disgusted by the two people in front of her that all she could do was clench her fists tightly and try to hold back the pain and suffocating ache in her heart.
"My ex-wife? You mean this country bumpkin, sweetheart?" Evan asked, pointing straight at Nara. "You don't even have to ask. Just looking at her body disgusts me! Let alone touching her. You're the only one I like!"
Once again, Evan drove a razor-sharp dagger into his own ex-wife's heart. Nara had never imagined that this was why Evan had never touched her or treated her as a wife in the truest sense. He had deceived her so smoothly from the very beginning that she hadn't suspected a thing.
"You're truly a horrible man, Evan!" Nara said as she struggled to stand.
She wanted to cry, but Nara refused to let Evan and Bella see her do it.
"Huh! Your hands are getting too naughty, sweetheart. Be patient for a moment. This isn't the right time or place for something like that," Bella said, making Nara feel even more disgusted.
Nara saw with her own eyes as her husband's hands moved so gently over the surface of Bella's clothes. The sight made the pain in her heart even more unbearable.
"I hope you and your wife get the karma you deserve! Remember this! No matter how much time passes, I will never accept being treated like this!" Nara declared before turning and walking away.
Nara ran as fast as she could to escape Evan and Bella, who were chasing after her. She kept searching for somewhere safe while trying to find Dimas's car. Unfortunately, she still couldn't spot it anywhere. Completely frantic, Nara was eventually forced to hide behind an abandoned building not far away, gasping for breath.
"Nara! Come on, get out of your hiding place! I know you're here! We aren't finished talking! You need to retract everything you said in front of the media! You need to clear my name and Bella's first!"
"That's right, Nara! You need to take responsibility! I'm so humiliated! Come out, now!" Bella chimed in, just as angry.
Nara stayed silent in her hiding place. She covered her own mouth, trying not to let a single word escape. Sweat poured down her face as the sound of the two people's footsteps grew closer and closer.
"Come on, Nara! Don't make things harder than they have to be before we run out of patience! All you have to do is follow our orders, and then you can go back to living peacefully out there!" Evan called again, his sharp eyes scanning the area around him.
Bella, right behind him, continued searching for Nara as well. They didn't miss a single spot as they passed, making Nara's heart pound wildly. Panicking, Nara gripped her own clothes tightly. Finally, she was forced to hold her breath as she slowly crept toward a staircase beside her.
"Ow!"
"There she is, that country bumpkin!"
