She was just a shy girl who didn't like crowds. Everyone said she was like a nearly dead radio battery, her voice soft and breaking up.
And yet, her name, Daisy, was the name of a fragrant and enchanting flower—nothing like her. She was an outcast in her class, not the kind of person who could attract a crowd's attention.
Daisy had tried to make friends. But it was too difficult. Every time she tried to join the conversation, the atmosphere became awkward and uncomfortable. People wanted to avoid her, too. So she chose solitude rather than getting trapped in an uncomfortable situation. Luckily, no one hated her or treated her cruelly. So being alone like this wasn't a problem; in fact, it felt like a stroke of luck.
Today, Ms. Lina said a new student would be joining their classroom. As usual, everyone in the class had to be kind to the new student.
Before long, Ms. Lina arrived with the new student.
The moment he stepped into the classroom, everyone was shocked by his appearance. His tall frame, handsome face, gentle eyes, and incredibly sweet smile made the girls cheer wildly. The boys, on the other hand, snorted and clicked their tongues in annoyance.
Even Daisy, who wasn't particularly interested in a guy's appearance, had to admit that the new student was extremely handsome.
"Quiet, please!" Ms. Lina shouted, glaring fiercely until the whole class fell silent in an instant.
"Good," she continued with a smile when all her students followed her instructions.
Meanwhile, every student swallowed hard. Ms. Lina's expression had changed so quickly—from looking like a demon to looking like a completely innocent angel.
They said that whenever Ms. Lina got angry, her anger could turn into a terrifying disaster. That's why every student was afraid of her.
Even though she smiled warmly every day, they were afraid that smile might turn into an atomic bomb ready to explode at any moment.
Even so, Daisy really liked Ms. Lina. She was kind but firm. She wouldn't tolerate mistakes. On top of that, she was wise. Of course, she always gave each of her students a chance to make things right.
"Just as I said yesterday, today I'll introduce the new student joining our class. Ferry, please introduce yourself," Ms. Lina said, gesturing for the new student to speak.
The new student nodded, then looked around the entire classroom with a wide smile.
"Hello, my name is Ferry Astara. I moved here because my parents' work required us to live in this city. I hope we can become good friends," he said with a wink.
The girls immediately screamed excitedly at such a cheesy pickup line.
"All right, you may sit in any open seat, Ferry."
"Okay, Ms. Lina."
Ferry's gaze swept across the classroom again. The girls immediately perked up and pointed to the seats beside them.
Daisy merely looked on in boredom. Obviously, no one would want to sit with someone like her.
But strangely, Ferry's gaze seemed to be fixed on her. Daisy immediately grew nervous.
In a panic, Daisy shook her head, hoping Ferry wouldn't choose the seat beside her. There were plenty of girls who wanted to sit with him. If she wanted to keep her life peaceful, she couldn't get involved with them.
But that hope was crushed. Ferry walked toward her, then stopped right in front of her.
"Can I sit next to you?" Ferry asked.
Daisy fell silent for a moment. But in the end, she reluctantly nodded to let him know he could.
Ferry immediately flashed a wide smile. "Thank you so much," he replied, and Daisy answered with a forced smile.
Just as Daisy had expected, a lot of heated stares were directed at her, as if they were burning a hole in her back.
Daisy let out a long sigh. The peaceful life she'd fought to preserve all this time had now been ruined.
She didn't know where to start fixing it. But one thing was clear: she had to avoid the guy sitting beside her.
For the sake of a peaceful life.
