Ring...
The bell rang. The students immediately rushed out of the classroom toward the cafeteria to fill their overheated stomachs.
However, the girls in her class had instead clustered around the new student. Daisy, who was sitting beside him, was forced to back away so she wouldn't disturb the girls circling him like wolves stalking their prey.
She grabbed her packed lunch from her desk and hurried out of the classroom. Her steps felt light once she escaped the fiery stares of the hungry female demons. The hair on the back of Daisy's neck prickled as she remembered those terrifying looks; it felt as if her body had been torn apart. Fortunately, they were more focused on getting closer to the new student now and had forgotten she was even there.
Her destination was the place she usually visited during break. It wasn't a hiding place, just an ordinary spot that anyone could visit.
That place was the school's back garden.
The school's back garden was a place hardly anyone ever visited. Its great distance from the school building made the students too lazy to go there. On top of that, it took about ten minutes to walk to the back garden, while the front garden was only five minutes away. So people preferred the front garden over the back one. And as someone who loved solitude, Daisy naturally chose the school's back garden as her place to rest.
Even if someone did come to the school's back garden, they definitely wouldn't care about Daisy's presence. To them, she was like an extra who merely passed by without anyone paying attention.
Daisy was very grateful for that. She didn't really like attention. She preferred working behind the scenes and observing the people around her.
She remembered the handsome new student. He seemed like a kind and cheerful guy. When the group of girls had gathered around him, he had seemed completely unfazed, as if he was already used to dealing with situations like that.
She remembered her older sibling's warning to be careful around guys who were too kind and handsome. They liked to turn on the charm and break many girls' hearts in subtle ways.
Daisy didn't really understand what her sibling had meant. But when she saw the swarm of girls in her class, she finally got it.
Someone's good looks could drive people crazy. Maybe that was why her sibling had forbidden her from falling for a guy like that.
Unfortunately, Daisy was pretty interested in the new student. After all, it was impossible not to like something beautiful.
She had seen plenty of handsome guys on the internet. But seeing one in person was, of course, completely different. Especially since he seemed like a nice person. It was very difficult not to admire him.
To be honest, Daisy's heart fluttered every time she looked at his face. Maybe she was already interested in him. But how could someone like her ever be liked by a handsome guy? Besides, she was also afraid of dealing with his fans. They might even kill her with their fanaticism.
As her thoughts churned, Daisy took a bite of the lunch she'd brought from home. A pleasant feeling immediately spread through her body. For her, eating was one way to forget the stress of thinking about the girls who had been giving her hostile looks.
Crash...
A booming sound came from somewhere in the distance. Daisy immediately went on alert when she heard it. In a quiet place like this, sounds that loud were extremely rare. And since the noise had come from an empty room, how could anyone possibly be in there?
Crash...
The sound came again, making Daisy tremble with fear.
Could it be a ghost?
Daisy shook her head hard. There was no way there could be a ghost in broad daylight like this. Besides, she didn't believe ghosts existed. The sound had definitely been caused by a person.
Curious, Daisy crept toward the empty room to find out who had made the loud noise. The door was slightly open. She quickly peeked through the gap into the empty room.
Inside, a guy was roughly tearing the empty room apart. Daisy frowned, wondering why he was doing something so strange. It was pointless and a complete waste of energy.
However, a moment later, she realized that the guy was the new student from her class. Daisy was startled. She hadn't expected the new student, who was always smiling warmly and acting cheerful, to behave like a delinquent who enjoyed making a mess. And strangely, hadn't he been with the group of girls in her class earlier? When had he gotten there?
"Tsk, annoying. Girls are the same everywhere. Like prostitutes."
Daisy gaped as she listened to the guy who had gently asked her to sit beside him now speak so crudely. It was like seeing someone with two completely different personalities right in front of her.
Daisy began backing away. She felt that she had to leave. Maybe this side of him was the secret he wanted to hide.
She turned around and started walking slowly. But without meaning to, her foot stepped on a small, brittle piece of wood, making it snap.
Crack...
"Who's there?" Ferry shouted.
Daisy clicked her tongue. Her luck was truly terrible. It felt like Lady Luck wasn't on her side. She was about to run away, but Ferry was already standing in front of her, forcing Daisy to stop.
"So it's my nerdy seatmate." Ferry flashed a wide grin, making Daisy shudder in fear.
Ferry's handsome, angelic face now looked like a terrifying demon in her eyes.
Daisy swallowed hard. For some reason, she had a bad feeling that something terrible was about to happen.
