Meanwhile, instead of sleeping in the comfort of his room, Damian was now at one of the most famous clubs in the capital.
The club was still packed. Flickering disco lights illuminated the entire room. The loud music, the DJ's voice, and dancers in skimpy outfits kept the atmosphere lively even though morning was fast approaching.
To be honest, Damian hadn't wanted to come to a place like this. Not because he wanted to act all saintly, but because he'd already been through this phase of his life. Now, he felt he shouldn't be wasting his time on things like this anymore.
Of course, Damian hadn't come here without a reason. A phone call from his cousin a while ago had forced him to sacrifice his rest.
Damian's gaze was flat as he looked at Ivanna, who welcomed his arrival with a broad smile.
The strong smell of alcohol filled Damian's senses. The girl was drunk again. It seemed Ivanna had drunk more tonight than she had last week. Damian could tell from the number of empty bottles scattered across the table.
"I thought you weren't coming," Ivanna said. Her voice was still fairly clear, but her eyes had already begun to droop.
"Let's go home," Damian urged. He didn't want to stay any longer in such a noisy place. Maybe he had liked places like this once, for a few reasons. But not anymore.
"Why are you in such a hurry? Sit for a while," Ivanna said, trying to negotiate.
She was too drunk to realize that morning was almost here and that Damian needed rest, too.
"I don't have time, Ivanna."
Damian immediately helped Ivanna to her feet. He didn't need to wait for the half-conscious woman's permission.
"PLEASE WELCOME, OUR MAIN STAR! ELENA...!"
The DJ's voice over the microphone was immediately met with an enthusiastic roar from the guests.
Damian instinctively turned toward the stage. For some reason, he felt curious about the woman named Elena.
The guests' enthusiastic welcome was enough to show that Elena was quite popular here.
"Woo-hoo! Elena! Elena! Elena!" Ivanna, her eyes growing even heavier, also looked toward the stage. She flashed a wide smile and shouted excitedly like a cheerleader.
"Damian, look at that. She's my best friend. She's the best friend I ever had," Ivanna continued, her smile growing even wider.
Damian could only shake his head at his cousin's words. Whenever Ivanna got drunk, she often talked about things that made no sense and sometimes weren't even logical.
Whether Elena really was Ivanna's best friend or not, Damian had no idea.
However, Damian's eyes instantly widened when he saw an elegant woman in a black dress standing onstage with a beautiful smile.
Damian clicked his tongue softly.
So the cold woman could smile after all.
Yes, she was the woman Damian had met a few hours earlier.
The woman who had previously been wearing a red dress and giving him a cold look now stood calmly onstage. She looked as though nothing had happened to her tonight.
"Is she immune to pain, or does she just not care?" Damian muttered.
Damian couldn't even understand how the woman could appear as if nothing had happened. The bruises that had covered her face earlier were now hidden beneath makeup.
Then what about the wound on her head?
Was she really all right?
Damian let out a quiet breath.
"Don't tell me she's Wonder Woman's descendant."
Damian could only shake his head as he continued thinking about the woman.
"Come on, let's go home. I'm sleepy. But as usual, don't take me to my house. I'll stay at your place instead. I don't feel like listening to Mami ramble at home."
Ivanna's voice drew Damian's attention away again.
Damian then walked out of the club while helping Ivanna along. He tried not to think about the woman anymore.
Actually, it wasn't all that surprising to see her in a place like this.
Elena.
What a beautiful name.
Unfortunately, Damian felt that the woman's attitude wasn't nearly as beautiful as her name.
What a disappointment.
