At the Quincy family residence, Livia still felt a little dizzy. So she chose to eat dinner in her room instead of joining everyone at the dining table. She knew Emma might start another fight with her the moment they came face-to-face, making her headache even worse. It was better to avoid her.
After finishing her meal, Livia placed the plate on the table and pulled open a drawer. As far as she remembered, there was a phone kept inside.
Sure enough, as soon as the drawer opened, she saw a phone. But it wasn't to her liking.
“This phone has terrible specs. I can't use it to track things down and obtain evidence of Bella's crimes. I have to buy a new phone.”
Emma was already angry with her. That woman would definitely pressure Ethan to have her imprisoned. Considering how much he hated her, Livia might not have much time left. She had to obtain evidence as soon as possible to clear herself of the accusations. Of course, she didn't want to end up in prison after being reborn.
As she thought about it, reality suddenly reminded her of something. “Phones with advanced specs and features are expensive. Besides, if I want one suited to my preferences and needs, I'll have to place a custom order. And that will definitely cost even more. I also need a laptop. But I don't have any money right now.”
There was no way Livia could ask Ethan. Besides, Bella had been holding on to her bank card for a long time. Given Bella's greed, Livia didn't think there would be any money left on the card that she could use.
Suddenly, the bedroom door was pushed open.
“Miss Livia, are you finished eating? I'll take the dirty dishes downstairs.”
Beki's voice pulled Livia out of her wandering thoughts. She turned around and nodded at the maid.
Beki walked over to the bedside table. As she reached out to pick up the tray, she said, “Although the wound on your head has been treated, it still needs to be examined by a doctor. Why don't you go to the Quincy family residence's private clinic?”
Livia shook her head. “No need. It's just a minor wound. I can handle it.”
As Blood Shadow, she had suffered much more serious injuries before. A minor wound like this wasn't enough to make her complain to a doctor. Besides being a member of the special forces, she had another identity in civilian life. Very few people knew that she worked as a doctor at one of the hospitals in Dellmor.
“But…” Beki looked hesitant, but she eventually gave up trying to persuade Livia when she saw the calm yet piercing look in her eyes.
After Beki left, Livia felt a little bored, so she left her room and headed for the second-floor balcony. Standing on the balcony, she lifted her gaze and stared at the starry night sky.
Just then, she heard approaching footsteps. She had just started to turn around to see who it was when a figure suddenly appeared beside her.
Livia caught the fresh scent of soap as she looked at the tall man beside her.
Ethan stood on the balcony, staring straight ahead at the night view as he took out a cigarette and slipped it between his fingers. The man didn't say anything, nor did he look at Livia. Yet his presence made Livia uncomfortable.
Therefore, Livia decided it was time to return to her room.
She had taken only two steps when Ethan's voice sounded behind her. “What's wrong with your head?”
Livia hadn't expected the arrogant man to speak to her, so it took her a moment to respond. After making sure there was no one else around and that Ethan was indeed speaking to her, she finally turned around and said, “Are you stupid? Can't you see that this is a bandage? People don't walk around with their heads wrapped in bandages if they aren't injured.”
Ethan stopped moving his mouth as he smoked. He turned around and stared at the slender woman in front of him, who was looking at him boldly. Without the slightest hesitation.
He had seen Livia's bold reaction at the hospital earlier and heard Emma's complaints. Even so, he was still taken aback. Nevertheless, he wasn't bothered at all by Livia calling him stupid.
His gaze lingered on the bandage around Livia's head as he asked again, “How did you get hurt?”
Livia frowned and gave Ethan a strange look. “Why is he suddenly asking me that? Is he drunk? Oh no, I have to leave before something happens.”
“It's none of your business,” Livia replied curtly and turned to leave.
But Ethan grabbed her wrist. He pulled her back onto the balcony before forcing her into a corner.
Trapped between the balcony railing and Ethan, Livia panicked. “What are you doing? Let me go!” She struggled to free herself but failed.
If this had been her old body, it would have been easy for her to slam Ethan to the ground and escape. But she couldn't do much with this frail, slender body.
“I asked you a question.” A glint flashed in Ethan's eyes as he moved his face closer to Livia's and asked again.
“Why do you care? Isn't my suffering exactly what you wanted?” Livia retorted irritably. She wasn't intimidated by Ethan in the slightest.
Ethan's gaze turned cold when he saw the dislike in Livia's eyes. He stared at her for a while before letting her go.
Livia could finally breathe a sigh of relief once she was free of Ethan. She didn't bother noticing the faint disappointment in his expression and immediately hurried away.
Ethan remained standing on the balcony, watching Livia's figure flee from him.
At first, he had wanted to go to his study, but then he saw Livia standing alone on the balcony. Livia had fallen from the balcony five years ago, which made him worry about her. Besides, he had noticed the bandage wrapped around the woman's head. So he hurried over to her. But as usual, the woman kept avoiding him.
After Livia's figure had completely disappeared from his sight, he put out his cigarette, threw it into the trash can, and walked toward his study.
Ethan was trying to recover the CCTV footage when a knock sounded.
After receiving permission, the Head Butler walked in and stood beside the desk, reporting, “Sir, I've checked today's CCTV footage. I don't know what happened, but Miss Livia and Miss Bella left Miss Sofia's room injured.”
Hearing that, Ethan narrowed his eyes. “Livia and Bella?”
Meanwhile, Livia entered her room in an irritated mood.
“What is that bastard's problem? Why did he suddenly start acting like that? I won't have any peace with him around. I'll file for divorce as soon as I'm proven innocent,” Livia muttered to herself.
She then lay down on the bed and closed her eyes.
