The day of Gandy's cousin's child's wedding finally arrived. Everyone attending the event was dressed in the finest clothes they owned.
Rimby and Gandy were no exception.
Gandy's cousin belonged to a prominent family that was well known by many people.
Their influence in the community was considerable, largely because they always took part in social activities.
Their positions in the professional world were another source of influence.
That was why their child's wedding was so grand.
The building they had rented was one of the well-known five-star hotels in the city.
So it was no surprise that, besides being numerous, their guests were certainly not ordinary members of society.
The young women in the family, in particular, were recruited by Ms. Yira to serve as “Pagar Ayu.”
In Indonesia, especially among the Javanese, Pagar Ayu are women from the bride and groom's families who accompany the bride and welcome guests at the wedding.
Many of the young women in Gandy's extended family had stunning looks and ideal proportions. They were perfect for serving as “Pagar Ayu.”
Rimby was assigned to that role as well. So she and Gandy were separated for quite a while.
Where was Gandy?
Gandy was entertaining several of Ms. Yira's guests, who happened to be loyal customers at his restaurant.
They all knew Gandy well through Ms. Yira. He was one of the young entrepreneurs in the food-and-beverage industry whose business had skyrocketed in a short time.
Important people in the country often visited his restaurant.
For now, Gandy's attention had to remain focused on them, so he couldn't keep track of where Rimby was.
Meanwhile, Rimby carried out her duties as a “Pagar Ayu” perfectly. Among the young women in Gandy's extended family, his wife was the most beautiful.
Even some of the female guests kept losing their train of thought whenever they made eye contact with Rimby.
“Ugh, getting stared at by another woman like that is making me feel so awkward~” Rimby thought.
Just as Rimby was about to sit down, someone suddenly dropped a phone right in front of her.
Rimby jumped in surprise and instinctively grabbed the phone so no one else would step on it.
At that same moment, a large, strong hand reached for the phone in Rimby's grasp as well.
Then Rimby's eyes met the other person's.
“Rimby?” “Banu?”
Without realizing it, the two of them were still holding on to the fallen phone together.
A moment later, Rimby and the man chuckled at the same time.
“I spaced out for a second when I looked at you, Rim. You looked familiar. That's what I was thinking, haha.” The man broke the ice.
His name was Banu. He had been Rimby's college friend, as well as the first person to confess his feelings to her before Gandy did.
Rimby immediately grew nervous and realized she needed to let go of the phone. Banu took it from her and slipped it into his mini bag.
“It really has been a long time since we last met. Honestly, I was shocked when I realized it was you, Banu.” Rimby tried to control her fingers, which wouldn't stop fidgeting inside her downturned palm.
It wasn't that Rimby was afraid to see Banu.
She was simply unsure what to talk about in front of the man she had once rejected.
Banu smiled. “I get it. That rejection still left a mark, you know. Ahem, ahem.”
Just as Rimby had expected, Banu still hadn't been able to forget her.
Before Rimby and Gandy got married, Banu had still often sought her out, always making sure to ask about her feelings.
“I'm sorry if I've remained a wound in your heart all this time. But forcing my heart wouldn't have done you any good either, Nu,” Rimby said.
