Half a Broken Sword

Ten years ago, Ye Chen was found curled inside a rice jar, the only survivor of the massacre at Ye Family Manor, clutching nothing but half of a broken black sword. Now a ragged stable boy at the Azure Dragon Escort Agency, he has never forgotten the screams or his dying guardian's warning not to go north. When the shard begins to awaken, Ye Chen sets out on a path of revenge that will carry him through bloody tournaments, a cunning fox-masked ally and powers far beyond the mortal martial world.
