Sixteen-year-old Elle Castellano, a healing-magic elf adopted at age four by the head of a powerful crime family, has spent her whole life hidden behind guarded gates. When she's finally allowed one normal year at an ordinary high school, she falls for Jasper Reed, an ordinary boy with no ties to her family's dangerous world. As their relationship blooms, Elle discovers the ancient curse she broke as a child twelve years ago was never fully destroyed only dormant and a rival crime family has been waiting all this time to find her. Elle must choose between hiding to stay safe and trusting the people who love her, freely, to face the truth together.
