The Chef with Trillions of Taste Buds
Jolene Orrington · Season 1 · Oct 29, 2026
He held twenty Michelin stars.
Whatever touched his tongue, he knew at once: the richness of cream, the size of the salt grains, the heat of the flame. He could practically see flavor, a genius Michelin adored.
Then an accident stole his sense of taste. A chef who couldn't taste lost his cooking, his stars, his everything, keeping only a pointless habit of staring at ingredients and trying to recall how they used to taste.
One day, at a tiny stall tucked in a market corner, he spotted a wild herb he didn't recognize. "That one will have flavor," he thought.
What returned wasn't just taste. His tongue now reads first and sketches first; a perception had awoken in him on a level far beyond anything before.
