“You tell her, Tiara. Not me,” Danis nudged Tiara’s arm, and Tiara nudged him back while making the same gesture.
“Why me? Why don’t you tell her? You’ve been friends with her longer than I have,” Tiara took a sip of her melon juice and let out a long sigh when she saw Danis turn his gaze away and whistle, clearly having no intention of telling me. Tiara waved me over with her hand, and I obeyed.
“My dear Nia, there’s a limit to how stupid you can be.”
Tiara leaned away from me as soon as she finished saying that, visibly annoyed as she rolled her eyes. “It’s obvious Galih is interested in you. Interested as in romantically interested. Get it? Otherwise, why would he go out of his way to drive you home, open his car door for you so you could get out right away, and exchange phone numbers with you? And then, what was the last one again? He even gave you a nickname!”
I frowned in annoyance at her words. Ugh, I asked for advice, not insults!
“Exactly! What did he call you? A rabbit? What part of you is a rabbit? Gorilla, more like it! She’s this fierce and he gives her a bunny nickname. What does Galih even see in her? Where’s the rabbit supposed to be? Ugh, just hearing it gives me chills!”
Danis chimed in, shuddering dramatically, which had my hand ready to punch him.
He was so annoying! How did I ever manage to like someone like him? Thinking back on it, there wasn’t a single good thing about this guy besides his talent for being irritating.
“See? You’re getting ready to punch him again! Tiara, help! This girl is scary!”
Tiara rolled her eyes again at the sight of the two of us. “You’re both the same. Always showing off. One of you already has a girlfriend, and the other is showing off because some guy is trying to make a move on her. Great, just great. All because I’m the only one who doesn’t have a partner. This is what I don’t get—why aren’t you two dating when you’re this close?” Before we could protest, Tiara continued. “I get it, Nia. You just got your heart broken.”
Danis immediately turned toward Tiara and rolled up his sleeves. “What do you mean, Tiara? How come I didn’t know anything about this? Who broke Nia’s heart?! What a jerk! How dare he break Nia’s heart! Tell me who it is—I’ll beat him up right now!”
Before Danis could leave to search for whoever had broken my heart—which was, of course, him—Tiara grabbed his arm and told him to sit back down.
“Forget it, Danis. Seriously. There’s no way you’ll find that person,” Tiara let out a long sigh, looking frustrated, but she had no intention of explaining it to Danis out of respect for me. Meanwhile, Danis was still racking his brain, trying to figure out who had broken my heart. “I swear, you two are unbelievable. How can you be this stupid at the same time? Anyway, if you ask me, why don’t you try getting closer to Galih? Maybe you two would be a good match, right?”
I moved closer to Tiara and whispered so Danis couldn’t hear me. “But isn’t that weird? I just got my heart broken, and now I’m trying to get close to someone else. Right?”
Danis, caught trying to eavesdrop on our conversation, straightened in his seat and whistled as if he hadn’t been doing anything. Thank God he didn’t hear me.
“That’s exactly why, Nia. That’s why I’m telling you to try getting closer to him. The cure for a broken heart is new love!
“Besides, from your description, he sounds rich. He has a car, wears formal suits, and is mature. I mean, that’s a pretty great deal! Way better than some guy who has no idea what his future is going to look like.”
